Way too many airports!

When I start BaseCamp and select the map I downloaded from my nuvi I see SO many labels/icons for airports. There are literally thousands of them:



I was reading this help page and it said that the map controls allows me to show/hide labels.



I was hoping this would get rid of all the airport labels. My map control does not have those options, however. I can only pan and/or zoom:



Why does my map control look different? More generally, is there a way I can turn off all those airport labels? Can I choose which types of labels to show (eg. restaurants, gas stations, etc.) or do I have to turn them all on/off together?

    Not sure which version you're using as I don't recognise the map control view you posted at g2.png :confused:

    g3.png is the normal one and has been for many years.

    However map symbols shown can be changed at Edit, Options, Activity Profile, Map display features ... airports are listed under Points, Transportation

    I'm using the latest version of Basecamp on MAC and there is no "option" option under the "edit" selection!!!! And there's no activity profile anywhere... somebody please help me, this picky Airport Icons are driving me crazy!!!

    You might get a better answer if you asked the question on the MAC BaseCamp forum. This is the Windows forum.

    BTW for MAC version:
    Go to the BaseCamp>Preferences in the
    Menu Bar. The preferences window lets you select General, Display, Routing, Find, Controls, and
    Advanced preferences.
    Under the Display Tab: Click “Hide Map Features”, Scroll to the bottom and expand Transportation by clicking on the arrow Icon, Uncheck Air Transportation so your map is not cluttered with airport icons. (You may
    uncheck other items if desired). Click Okay
