Basecamp or Mapsource for use with older devices?

I have an Oregon 400 (an "older" device). I generally like Basecamp better than Mapsource, simply because it has more options.

However, on various sites I read that Mapsource is more appropriate for use with older devices (for example here - in Dutch). According to the site it has something to do with profiles and routing, but it is not explained why.

Can anybody tell me whether Mapsource is really more appropriate for use with older devices? And if so, why?

Basecamp should work fine with your Oregon. If you prefer it and it does what you want then stick with it :)
