BaseCamp and RV760 don't route the same

I made a route from Highland, In to the Elkhart County 4H Fairgrounds in Goshen In with BaseCamp and transferred it to the RV760. When traveling the route the RV760 changed the routing and tried to take me on the Indiana toll road. I don't have a toll road avoidance on because it causes problems with I 270 around Chicago. When the route was transferred it showed I would travel on I 94> US 20> IN 2> US 31> US 33> local streets in Goshen. Mid-trip the RV760 wanted to route me I 94> I 90(Indiana toll road)>US 31> US 33. If I insert shaping points the route on US 20 I can make the route I wanted. This can be disturbing :mad:when driving an RV that can be turned around easily.
How can this be avoided?
The Attached image shows the routes.
  • Once you transfer the route, start it on the device as if you were going to start your drive...zoom in and follow the entire route till the end to make sure it matches what you created, if not add more via's in Basecamp, delete the old route from the device and send the new one and start checking it again like the first time.

Also, try and understand why the device changed the route when it calculated it...is there something down the road it feels you are not allowed to drive on or won't fit? I find a lot of the time the device makes the change because another road might be 5 seconds faster, even if it's much more difficult to drive.

  • I did review the route on the RV760 after transferring it and it looked as if it would follow the route developed in BC. At the time I thought there might have been a traffic problem. But recently other users on another forum reported similar problems. It appears that the algorithm in BC is somewhat different than the RV760. I know from a recent experience with road construction the RV760 didn't reroute until we were moving so it could be the traffic receiver changing the route along the way.
The problem is that when you plan the route on the RV760 it takes you a different direction than when you plan the route in BC and then transfer the route to the RV760. The BC route as viewed on the RV760 is the same as it was in BC. Then when starting to drive it changes. This becomes very difficult to duplicate without driving the route again.
