Issues using device data and transferring data

I have a nuvi 3590LTM. I am using Basecamp 4.3.4 and City Navigator Europe NTU 2015.1

Previously with the device attached to the PC I could add waypoints, assigned in Basecamp, to the device and use waypoints on the device to create routes in Basecamp. Now the trips/routes in the device are not shown in the list in Basecamp and the waypoints in the device list cannot be used to create a route in Basecamp. The route toolbar icons are greyed out.
I can create a route in Basecamp using waypoints in Basecamp. But when I send the route to my device waypoints are duplicated in the device, eg I get Home, Home1, Home2 etc.

This situation is a lot worse than it used to be and now I am reduced to creating all my routes in the device and not using Basecamp.

Any helpful suggestions would be welcome.

Route toolbar icons are grayed out unless you select a route, so I'm unclear what you're having an issue with?

The issue I reported above is now different. I had attached my device after starting Basecamp in which case only the device internal storage was shown and not the memory card. I note that Basecamp cannot be used to edit internal storage data. When I attach the device before starting Basecamp, I can see the memory card data and can edit/create routes. This matter is now closed. Thanks.
