Basecamp and nuvi 3597 internal storage.

Hello, I hope someone can help. I use Basecamp to create my waypoints and routes. But somehow I have uploaded my waypoints and routes onto my nuvi 3597 in the internal storage. I do not want them there, I want them on the Memory Card. 1) How do I delete the waypoints and routes from the internal storage? 2) How do I ensure I am uploading properly from basecamp to the 3597 memory card that is installed?

Thank you very much.
  • When you open BaseCamp and you connect your Nuvi 3597, and the memory card is installed into that device, do you see in the view on the left where your data is a memory card entry? You typically can drag items from "My Collection" or any of it's sub folders/items to the memory card.

You should just be able to delete the items from the Nuvi. Or if you can't in BaseCamp (because the device is set to read-only) then you can delete the items on the device itself.

On the nuvis you can only delete data using the device menus, not by using Basecamp.
  • Let me know how it goes. Happy to help.

Hi there ... okay, I deleted the saved waypoints and routes from the Device. Next I dragged waypoints and routes from MYCollection to the devices memory card instead of the internal storage. Then I go back to the device to check everything ... I can't seem to access the waypoints the I placed on the memory card.

    Am I still missing something?

    Thank you SUSSAMB.

You'll need to disconnect and boot your nuvi before you'll see them. If you've done that and they're not appearing is your card formatted FAT32? If not your nuvi won't see it even though it'll show in BC.

    Thank you SUSSAMB.

And just so you an others know ... it could still be operator error, I will admit ... but ... I did the disconnect and boot of the nuvi to check. and Yes the card was FAT32. So, not sure. However, I continued to work on it and finally instead of being able to use the drag feature from mycollection to the internal card ... I used the following steps ... I highlighted the waypoints I wanted to move in mycollection ... then I did a right click, clicked on "send to" and in the dialogue chose the memory card .... after the transfer took place I checked it ... and that had worked ... so, my drag feature doesn't seem to be working properly. but at least those steps worked. As long as I can remember them next time. lol. :)

    Thanks for the help.
  • Drag and drop and send to should work the same way AFAIK. It's always worked for me either way. Glad you now got it working though.
