Should't that read "Fixed issue when trying to install over an older version"?
  • BaseCamp software version 4.3.4 with Trip Planner

    Windows 8.1
Existing error: Program launches initially but fails to launch on second try. Disabling the “Welcome to Basecamp Tutorial” pop up will not allow the Basecamp to re-launch.

Intel Graphics Display set to 3200 x 1800. Display window is extremely small. UsedTask Manager click on BaseCamp app, select Properties and check the Disable display scaling on high DPI settings but still running as Windows 8.1. This helps but other pop up window boxes the text overlaps and is impossible to read. See example below from Trip Planner.

    Other tips found and plagiarized:
To perform a clean reinstall, remove Basecamp database, the default BC database location is
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Garmin\BaseCamp (WinXP)
    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp (Vista, Win7, Win8)
    Remove the Folder: C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\GARMIN_Corp\BaseCamp.exe_Url_urbejbdz42c555ix3xqbitecusqt0tuj
  • Would not load to three of my four 8.1 Laptops using the same download (installer error)the Fourth loaded -- copied the Basecamp Program File Folder and loaded to the other three and the Vista box -- 434 now running on all!!!!!!!

Thanks, tried 4.3.1 and it's doing the same as the others. Back to 4.2.5, and removing and re-installing Google Earth.
  • Not sure when this started but, just noticed this after upgrading to v4.3.4, when a route window is opened, the action of the columns is screwy. They are not wide enough. If you double-click the divider in the heading, the column does not auto-size as I expected. You have to grab the divider and move it by dragging to view the entire width of the column. If, after manually adjusting the width, you double click the divider, the width goes back down to something narrow; sometimes, the surrounding columns go blank. De-selecting and re-selecting restores the other columns but, you have to manually adjust the width again.

In the main window, the Data View pane, double clicking the divider works as I would expect (same as Windows).

This is the first time I installed BaseCamp; and it won't launch. A splash screen comes up and promptly vanished before I can read it. Event viewer gives the following two errors. Using Windows 7 SP1.

Basecamp 431/432/433/434 expects 1024x768 or higher.
So upscale it using Regedit to install Basecamp then downscale again.

    Tip is from SGIFL
  • I have an issue with the start-up of 4.3.4 I have a Dell insprion with a HD 1920-1080 screen resolution running Win 8.1. When BaseCamp opens the window doesn't fill the entire screen but shows to be maximized. I then have to minimize and re-maximize. The window than fits the screen but has very small font sizes. After clicking a few actions the font size changes to a larger size. If I have my RV760 connected BC opens small and then jumps to the full screen size with large fonts. This is kind of irritating.

I have the exact same issue with Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo X1 Carbon. It behaves better if you have the Windows magnification disabled, but still not as good as it was in the earlier versions of Basecamp. Something changed and Garmin either can't figure it out, can replicate the issue, or is just ignoring it for now.

I can't run Windows in it's native resolution for the most part because the apps and fonts are just too small on a quad HD laptop display. However, I occasionally due run it that way if I'm just doing a lot of Basecamp work.
  • I had that same issue but disabling display scaling seems to have fixed it.
Task manager - Right click on Basecamp Icon - click on Compatibility tab - check box = Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
  • Thanks that did help the start-up problem; however, the route properties window doesn't display the text properly. The text overlaps in the window. The crazy part is that if the RV760 is connected it opens okay.
