  • Exactly the same problem as 4.3.3. Downloads, appears to install ok, but try to open it up, and it starts the initialisation process, and NOTHING. :(

Tried the uninstall, check the X86 folder for Basecamp is deleted, and tried to re-install, and the same. Nothing, not even task manager has anything for it.

So back to 4.2.5, again :(

Still two issues with BaseCamp 4.3.4 :

1- unable to send an adventure from collection to a device (Montana).

2- when opening BaseCamp on Windows 8.1, only a half-window opens. Then, collection font is tiny at first, then it swells, shrinks, swells, shrinks .................., until remain swollen and find so a normal aspect. Those who experimented that will understand me, this strange phenomenon being described in numerous forums.
Look at more especially compass display when I open BaseCamp ! lol !

  • Will not load illegal instruction VISTA. Installer error Windows 8.1
  • Upgraded from 4.3.3 to 4.3.4 without a hitch on my Lenovo Carbon X1 running Windows 8.1

I believe 1) is a device and not a Basecamp issue. Basecamp creates the adventure and sends it to your Montana but the Montana isn't able to read it. IIRC this has been reported before.
  • The adventure thing is a known issue and I believe we have a beat on that. Hopefully we will get that fix out shortly.

The aspect ratio thing is also known and we are working on this as well.

    Thank you for the feedback.

Anyone else had problems with 4.3.4 like 4.3.3?

Also, is there anywhere to get 4.3.0 as 4.2.5 doesn't seem to like Google Earth?

I have a discrepancy in the elevation for proposed routes. I don't know if the same thing happens for tracks as well or not.
When I create a proposed route using basecamp 4.3.4 the properties of the route say a maximum elevation of 11,368 ft. the graph says a maximum elevation of nearly 11,800 ft. That's a big difference when you're walking with a backpack fully loaded. I'm sure the properties are wrong and the graph is right when I look at the topo map. I am using the topo west dvd 24k.
I never noticed it before since I always use the graph and map to judge. I read a post in here about a similar problem with distance so I checked it out.

    Previous BaseCamp Versions Here.
  • Try uninstalling then re-installing Google Earth, worked for me when I had an issue a while back with BC launching GE.

    4.2.5 worked fine with GE.
