Create route from track - editing

When I create a route from a track, there are usually some mistakes in the route (not following the road for example).
How can I edit the generated route.
There are no shaping points in the route. If i try to add a shaping point, BC warns me that the route will change and the result is then useless.

Only correct way seems to manually create the entire route myself.

Also I read on the forum that there is a preference setting somewhere to set the number of via points used in the auto generated route.
Where is this setting?

In fact, where are all the preferences mentioned in the help document http://static.garmincdn.com/basecamp/4_3/en/Default.htm

Seems like the help is not up to date, cause the menus mentioned there do not exist in my BC version (4.3.3).

We are in the process of updating our help files. However, the setting you are talking about can be reached if you change your route profile to "Direct." The track-to-route creation uses the track as closely as it can. Are you willing to post that track so that I might see what it calculates?

Attached a sample track that I try to recalculate into a route. The end result is not usable yet, but it's not possible to edit the route.

So I looked at your data and it looks to me like the route looks exactly like the track. Well, close, because there is always a bit of error in GPS points and so the route will attempt to snap to the nearest road.

Can you send me a screen shot of the directions it gives you? Open the new route, go to Route Directions, and post a screen shot of that here. That would help me a lot.

One last question I have for you, are you doing a mixture of off road and on road on this track?

Attached a screen capture of an example where the routing is not correct (this is near the start of the route). I have seen bigger problems with other tracks, this is just one example.

The map I use is: City Navigator NTU 2015.1

No. Just use the standard motorcycle profile.

I've just had a look at that route around the area you show, and found the file you attached above indeed isn't editable. However I then did a conversion on my version of BC (4.3.3) and it converted the track to a route that I could edit, so something seems to be going wrong with your version of Basecamp. Try uninstalling then reinstalling, then do the track to route conversion again.

I do however get the strange straight lines that you do, I suspect they are being caused because the track wanders off the road around those sharp bends.

Upgraded to BC 4.3.4 today.

Now I can't calculate the route anymore. A dialog appears saying: There was an error calculation this route.
Get the same error on some of the other tracks I used.

Well, this probably existed in 4.3.3 as well. I will keep you posted as I continue to try and recreate your issues.

I am requesting the map you used so that I can get the exact case set up.
