Is it possible to add custom Symbol Icons ? (Via Basecamp)

You can certainly add or use to be able to add Custom Symbols (icons) to BaseCamp and use/see them in the Symbol selection pulldown your image depicts but unless you have an older discontinued Garmin device that supports Custom Symbols BaseCamp will not transfer them with the Waypoint you assigned them to. BaseCamp does not recognize new(er) devices that support Custom Symbols.

I haven't tried it with Win-BC v4.3.3 so I don't know if they still read the Custom Waypoint Symbol directory--Mac-BC still does.

Although these days none of the newer devices are easily supported using Custom Waypoint Symbols even if they do support them. No On The Road devices that I'm aware of support Custom Waypoint Symbols.

Just to clarify, BaseCamp, and MapSource before it, do not transfer custom waypoint symbols--that is the icon as such. They transfer the code or name of the symbol instead. What that means is that both BC/MS and the device must be using the same symbols. To put it another way the user must ensure that the custom symbols files on their computer(s) and device(s) match. That is a manual process.

In the case of some newer devices, that use a completely different symbol set, symbols in BC/MS will never match.

Yes it does. I have all 64 custom symbols defined in both BaseCamp and MapSource and have for many years. My 76CSx only supports 24 and my Oregon 450 only 56.

Of course the files on my PC(s) and devices match :)

if its possible to add them in Basecamp, can you then please tell them in which directory to put these icons ?

I can understand that Basecamp will not transfer it to my device but just to see them in BC is a good step forward for me already
