Adding waypoint to end of route

While I'm asking questions...

I have the route properties window open and I'm on the 'Properties' tab which shows my list of waypoints. How do I add a waypoint to the end of the route?

If I highlight the last waypoint in the route, click the '+' sign then select a waypoint it is added above the waypoint I've highlighted, I then have to move it down. That's what I've been doing but I'm sure I must be missing something obvious. What is it?

Is there a way to select consecutive waypoints in that list and move them up or down a route together or do they, as I suspect, have to be moved individually?

Having played with Basecamp quite extensively I'm now trying to plan exclusively within Basecamp for the first time so sorry for the myriad questions.

Thanks.

If you don't select any waypoints in the route properties box, the new waypoints are added at the end of the list. Otherwise, they are added before the selected waypoint.

The other trick is that you can create a route by selecting waypoints from the collection list in the order that you want them in the route. You then create the route using 'Create route from selected waypoints'.

Ah yes, that works. :) I thought it had to be something I'd missed.

I knew about the second bit, and that's usually how I create routes, but then I generally want to play around with them which is where I was hitting my issue.

Thanks very much for your help.

  • I think you can just drag a drop a waypoint into a route (both in the lower left pane) and it will be appended to the end of the route.

So you can! That's even easier, thanks. (I'm learning useful things today).

This may be a little off point, but my problem is I can no longer open the route properties box. I used to simply double-click the route in a "My Collections" list, and it would pop up. I could then add, delete, and re-order the waypoints, as well as set arrival, departure, and layover times. Then all of sudden it simply stopped working. I reinstalled Basecamp (4.7) but that didn't help. If I right click the route and select "Open", nothing happens. How do I open the properties box? Did I inadvertently change a setting somehow?

  • Yes, unfortunately having done so its not easy to get it back. A reinstall shoukd work though, but did you restart your PC between the uninstall and reinstall?
