Baecamp Remove Shaping Points

Short question about the option Remove Shaping points in Basecamp, does this leave the route intact or will the GPS always recalculate ?

The reason why I am asking this is, because I am making routes with a lot of shaping points (No Poi's) and also don't alert)) but every time I send such a route to my GPS, these shaping points also show up in my "Trip Planner"

Well no nuvis can read tracks, but I'm surprised a track converted to a route doesn't show :confused:

Will test some more but I have seen some quirky behavior when sending routes. Will report back on this.

Incidentally have you tried playing with the setting under Edit, Options, Device Transfers?

Yes I have seen the "remove via Points" option. Looks nice. And also with this I need to test some more.

1- Is this true that the newer Garmin Nuvi Models don't have this behavior and retain Shaping Points ?

The nuvi 2575 is a newer Garmin Nuvi model. Newer Garmin models have this same behavior

2- Which Garmin Nuvi Models sold in Europe and SE-Asia can you recommend that retain shaping points?

That depends on what features you are looking for in a device. Our automotive product line has a wide array of device with different functions, features and price points.

3- Is there a way to Stop this behavior in my Nuvi 2575 ?

No.

I have send them a new email with the following question

Dear Garmin,

My Nuvi 2575 (Se-Asia Model) is already 3 years old, so are you sure it's a new model ? I've heard that Garmin Models from the 2013 range onwards don't have the behavior to Convert Shaping Points to Way Points.

Let's wait what their response is.

On the matter "a track converted to a route doesn't show"

I have tried and tried but it will not show, what seems to work is the option Right Click on a route and Select "Remove Shaping Points".

The settings under Edit, Options, Device Transfers, don't seem to have any effect.

Now I have to find one of these devices here in SE-Asia :p
