Base Camp help

I did a search on this stuff, but results yielded hundreds of posts. If a post containing ANY mention of a keyword it was populated.

So gonna take a more direct approach.

I used a Zumo 550 and Mapsource for many years, until the unit died. I upgraded to a Zumo 390, taking advantage of a garmin buy back to upgrade.

Best I can tell the 390 is not gonna talk to Mapsource? Is that correct or am I doin something wrong?

I have base camp downloaded and operating. The device connected to it no problem.

My question is this- How do I create a folder with multiple rides inside?

For example I'm planning a 9 day ride to South Dakota. In Mapsource I'd create 9 days of riding, all in a folder titled South Dakota 2014. But I'm having problems doin that in BC.

I don't have any problem creating and transfering routes, just organzing them.
  • In Basecamp you create folders and lists, right click My Collections and you'll get the options.

I don't have a Zumo 390 but it should talk to MapSource just like the later nuvis will, you just need to set it to Mass Storage mode. On the nuvis you:

    1. Start NUVI by itself and go to Volume Screen.
    2. Press the upper right hand corner of screen for 10 seconds.
    3. The Developers Screen will pop up
    4. Scroll down to MTP SETTINGS
    5. Change from AUTO DETECT to MASS STORAGE
    6. Shut down NUVI and connect to PC
    7. It should now connect in mass storage mode.

    Try that on your 390
  • Most helpful. I created the first 2 days of my ride, and was able to organize them by right clicking the Collections folder. From there I was able to figure out what I was suppose to do.

I'm gonna move from mapsource to Base Camp now that I'm better working with it.
