MSVCR90.dll missing from computer

I tried to carry out the latest Basecamp updates and got this message. This file is present on my mapping software CD but copying it to the Garmin folder doesn't clear the error. Can anyone give some help to sort this, Basecamp and the beta version ran OK before the update to 4.3 2.0 but neither will run now. Thanks in anticipation.
  • There are various threads about this. The solution that works for most is to uninstall then reinstall Basecamp (ensure you uninstall all versions).

    MSVCR90.dll is missing

    Same problem:
The program can't start because MSVCR90.dll is missing from
your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I hope Garmin programers are dealing with this glitch.
  • MSVCR90.dll problem

I received an email today (17th June 2014) advising that a new version of BaseCamp was available.

I installed it on my Windows 7 and windows 8.1 computers. Now I cannot run BaseCamp on either machine.

I get the same MSVCR90.dll error message. the previous version ran successfully on both machines.

Now I am stuck until Garmin fix the problem. i suspect they are using some development software which utilises dll libraries which are not generally available and were certainly not needed in the previous version.

My windows 8.1 machine is fully up to date (only 2 months old) and has had all releases and patches installed so it is not due to having out of date software.

  • As posted in various threads:

Anyone getting a Windows file .dll error message after updating BaseCamp on a Vista, 7, or 8 computer should uninstall BaseCamp then delete the C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\BaseCamp folder. Reinstall BaseCamp and the error should not return.
  • Solved my MSVCR90.dll problem

    Hi (again).

I followed the suggestion to uninstall and then install the new version of BaseCamp and now it is working on Windows 7 and 8.1 machines.

I did have to reconfigure the Toolbar but all of my saved routes, tracks and waypoints are accessible.

    Thanks for the tip.
