BaseCamp 425 and 431 will not load

I have two laptops that are exhibiting the same problem, and both have all of the latest Microsoft updates and C++ libraries. The one with 32-bit Win7 Starter gives an error message about mscvp120.dll missing. The other is running 64-bit Win7 Professional, and it gives a C++ runtime error. On both, BaseCamp ran fine until I installed the latest map update (2015.1). Both laptops were running BaseCamp 425, and both gave the missing dll error message. I tried installing the newer mscvp120.dll, but that did not help. Next I installed the newer BaseCamp 431 on my 64-bit machine, and that is when the error changed to the C++ runtime error. I am now convinced that the problem is related to the new map update. Unfortunately the Garmin website will not allow me to reload the previous map version (2014.4) that worked. Any suggestion on how to fix this problem?
  • There have been issues like this reportedly solved by uninstalling then reinstalling Basecamp. Also the latest is 4.3.2 (just released) includes 'Fixes for several start up issues'.

I'd try completely uninstalling the basecamp versions you have then installing 4.3.2 and see if that resolves the problem.

4.3.2 crashes and now wont load

I've just upgraded a perfectly operating version of Basecamp to 4.3.2 and it wont fire up. I get a quick flash on the screen and its gone, leaving a message ""check that you are not running two copies of BC" I'm not. I have removed the copy and reloaded it from a new download copy and it still wont work. Next choice?

I have a similar issue to SLROBERTS42 in that as I opened BC, it gave me an option to update it which I agreed to. It now no longer works and returns a Runtime Error - an application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly....

If I uninstall and re-install, will I lose all my routes and waypoints etc or is there a way of saving them independently?

    It's a 64 bit Windows 7 machine.

    Cheers in advance

    Many thanks for that.

Five minutes and I was up and running again.

I uninstalled BC, installed the new 4.3.2 version, and now everything is back to working on both laptops.
  • Great. Thanks for reporting back. As we're now on v4.3.3 I'm going to close this thread.
