BaseCamp 4.2.5 will not exit.

OS: Vista

I just created a few routes and also figured out how to move old routes to other lists/folders (and did so) and exported the routes that I wanted.

With my work done, I tried to exit using File -> Exit and <ALT>F4 and BaseCamp just sits there. I even tried an upgrade thinking that the upgrade process would force a shutdown (Help -> Check for S/W updates) but it just tells me there is no update available. I can browse the web so I'm not sure why it can't find the update. But that's another issue.

Is there another way to cause it to exit? If I kill it with Task manager will it exit gracefully? Otherwise I just shut down the machine and hope for the best.

My concern is that an ungraceful exit would leave the data corrupted.

Thanks!
  • Unsure why it's not shutting down, could be a myriad of reasons but using task manager should be OK. Update from within BC may not work, go directly to http://www.garmin.com/en-GB/shop/downloads/basecamp

Thanks for the reply. I'm using TaskMan to shut it down now. On the third dialog box I get:

One of the options on this dialog was "search for a solution" so I clicked that. There was a progress bar for a couple seconds and then BaseCamp exited. I restarted it and all data seems to be there. (And it exited when requested.)

    <shrug> All seems OK now.
