How to transfer saved places to mini SD card?

Our garmin nuvi limits the amount of saved places to 1,000. Unfortunately my dad needs way more due to the nature of his job.

I understand you can't bypass the limit (which sucks..) so we need a way to store different saved places in different SD cards. ideally, I want a way to move all the current saved places from the GPS onto the mini sd card we already have, allowing him to save another 1,000 places in the GPS. this way, whenever he needs the old locations, he can just pop the old SD card in and all the new places will show up. This is really important, we're in the middle of a project right now actually.

There has got to be a way around this. Can someone please teach me? I have BaseCamp downloaded. Thanks!
  • You could certainly copy the 1000 from the nuvi into Basecamp, and then send the 1000 to the card.

But every time you wanted to view them on the nuvi you would have to delete all the saved places off the nuvi then insert the card, as the limit is 1000 wherever they are loaded. You couldn't therefore have 1000 on the card then another 1000 (or even one) on the nuvi itself.
  • Why not create all your saved places as a Custom POI file and load them with POI Loader. You can have thousands of entries as custom POI's. You do need to have coordinates in the POI list, but there are methods of geocoding addresses in a batch process.
  • I simply meant that the GPX or CSV file you load with POI Loader needed the coordinates for each POI. In other words, you can't just load a list of street addresses. But you apparently figured that out if have loaded your custom POI's.
