    It is a timezone map.

I'm well aware of that. My question is "what does BC use it for?". I know devices convert UTC time (from the GPS satellites) to local time using that file and the current location. BC doesn't need to do that. It knows the UTC/local time from whatever computer it is running on.

My guess is that the BC Trip Planner uses it for trips that cross timezones.

Spoke too soon now after Garmin Express runs and finishes the maps is loaded to Program data THE BASE CAMP WILL NOT LOAD missing MSCVR90.dll
  • How can I stop BaseCamp from using Internet?
I have disabled tracing my activities and on-line search. I see BaseCamp is looking for updates and there is no option to disable it.
  • BOGUSKY

To fix the missing MSCVR90.dll error, uninstall BaseCamp then reinstall the latest version.

More then just trip planner. It is for all time calculations. Used for arrivals and departures. Even in standard route planning.

If you have successfully installed BaseCamp then you are okay. However there does appear to be an issue with the installer, although not with BaseCamp directly. The installer team has been made aware and they are working on it. I will keep everyone posted.

Basecamp.exe will not start anymore after map updates to 2015.1

After checking for updates on Garmin Express and updating to 3.2.4.0 Then updating two computers with the 2015.1 map updates BaseCamp.exe fails to start with the error it can't find msvcr90.dll. It suggest that a reinstall of basecamp may fix it. I did try a reinstall still no joy. Help my devices and my computers are updated to the new maps but I can't use the basecamp software on either Vista or Win7.

    TIA
    Mike

After installing 2015.10 maps to computer, BaseCamp 4.2.5 failed with R0634 error at startup. Uninstalled 4.2.5, downloaded and installed 4.3.1 as per Garmin fix. and no joy. Uninstalled 4.3.1, rebooted and was surprised to find all BaseCamp files were still on my computer. There was no entry in Uninstall Programs for BaseCamp. Obviously the uninstall must have been unsuccessful, but there was no indication of a problem. Manually deleted C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\BaseCamp, re-installed 4.3.1 and all is working well now.

Thank you WAASUP. I can confirm you need to manually deleted the c:\program files\garmin\basecamp folder after the uninstall. (I renamed the folder after the 'uninstall') Obviously the uninstall isn't working and some files left behind are causing it to fail. My other computer didn't have the option to uninstall so I'll try the manual delete and reinstall the new version.
