Same issue here, reinstalling did not help, also deleting the basecamp folder AFTER removing, then reinstalling again did not help.
With or without my zumo 350 device connected does not make any difference.

(in the beta verzion it worked fine)

    gr Wim

    Hello Again
    Found work around:

    Install BC beta again
connected my zumo 350, and waited to connect
Started BC beta, the options can now be chosen (not greyed out)
    closed
Started BC, now also here the options are working

Clearly an error in the new BC version, I'm good now, hope the Garmin programmers finally will doe some editing in the sourcecode to solve such minor (but annoying) issues.
The GPS works fine, but BC needs to much versions to solver errors.
Installation is failing in al ot of cases, iven the beta versions seem better.

    Succes guys

    gr Wim
  • In addition to Wim:

I had the same issue, a bit different though - at 'transfer to device' the zumo 350, 660 and 590 were showing (but had been used with the beta). The newly attached Nuvi 3597 was not showing in 'transfer to device'. It was seen in the library however. After starting the beta, closing it and restarting the 4.3.1. all was fine;all four units were present.
Note: this problem also occurs with people who did notuse the beta.

(Sidestep: how about the curvy roads?? Try to route curvy from Amsterdam to Rotterdam and you'll see the problem.)

Everybody in this thread is trying to solve the problem and that's good, but WHY is the Garmin software almost ALWAYS full of bugs and WHY is it never tested?
This is so annoying and time consuming. Also it gives a strange impression that basically Garmin doesn't really care.
Garmin is on the market for about 30 years now and should be able to program by now, by the time one error is solved Garmin creates a new disaster.
  • Tried some more. Might be language-related issue (I work with the Dtuch version):

I tried to add some more devices. this is what happenened:

(all aded unit were first recognized by the computer in advance to stertinf Baecamp) - working with win7-64

    - had three zumo's and one nuvi in 'the list' (the unit tranfer-settings pull down)
    - added the gpsmap62
    - the 62 was not in the list, one zumo is missing
    - switched to the beta: all five present
    - switch back to 4.3.1: all five present.

    - added the oregon600
    - the 500 is not seen; the Nuvi is missing now
    - back to the beta: all are present
    - back to 4.3.1: all six present
cause found? The beta works better than the release-version? Not really?

    -set the 4.3.1 to english
    - added the edge810
    - edge is not found; all six others are still there
    - switch to dutch: same
    - switch to english: same
    - switch back to Dutch: HEY!! Seven devices: all there! Without using the beta.

    Some homework ;) Good luck!

Well we are right now having some known issues with the installer. Can you please try to uninstall, follow the directions about complete removal earlier in this thread, and try to reinstal from scratch?
Uninstall (Uninstall remove Bascamp Folder), after reinstalling same problem.
My Pc System have nor errors, old Bascamp, works, CompeGPS LAND works, QLandkarteGT works, MapSource works, only the Bascamp 4.3.1 make problems.
  • BC Update completed following route outlined in post #73 of this thread, but BC 4.3.1 is unable to connect to the Internet. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

Windows 7, Oregon 450, nuvi1450, etrex vista hcx
  • Route is visually cutting corners.

I found that the route isn't tracking completely into corners in some cases. I have attached screen snips to illustrate.

At zoom levels above 10 miles, I can't tell. In zoom levels 10,7 & 5 miles, you can see that the route doesn't reach the corner. Zooming to 3 miles and tighter, the route clearly covers the corner properly.

Also, you can see from my return path under it, it is directional. The return route properly covered the corner at all zoom levels.

This is of no consequence to me, but I thought you folks might be interested.

This version doesn't seem to remember the sort setting of waypoints.

    Select the waypoint folder
    Select gear
    Select Sort By NAME

    shut down Basecamp
    restart Basecamp

The sorting will be set to SYMBOL again.

The categories I have defined in BC doesn't show up on my Zumo590 (after transfering them to the device of course).
Is the Z590 not supporting/ compatible with those waypoint categories?

To be honest, I am not familiar with what the device supports, however, each device is different. Some support categories and some don't. The categories are in the GPX files just like they used to be some time ago, but we don't take folders into account like we used to. Now we have a tag-cloud that represents the categories.

What is your route profile? That's odd. We haven't seen that in quite a bit of testing here.
