Tried some more. Might be language-related issue (I work with the Dtuch version):

I tried to add some more devices. this is what happenened:

(all aded unit were first recognized by the computer in advance to stertinf Baecamp) - working with win7-64

    - had three zumo's and one nuvi in 'the list' (the unit tranfer-settings pull down)
    - added the gpsmap62
    - the 62 was not in the list, one zumo is missing
    - switched to the beta: all five present
    - switch back to 4.3.1: all five present.

    - added the oregon600
    - the 500 is not seen; the Nuvi is missing now
    - back to the beta: all are present
    - back to 4.3.1: all six present
cause found? The beta works better than the release-version? Not really?

    -set the 4.3.1 to english
    - added the edge810
    - edge is not found; all six others are still there
    - switch to dutch: same
    - switch to english: same
    - switch back to Dutch: HEY!! Seven devices: all there! Without using the beta.

    Some homework ;) Good luck!

Ha ha, the things people find. I will see if anyone can reproduce this. Occasionally a device will time-out when rendering the map on it, but I am not sure that's what's happening in your case. Thanks for the feedback.
  • What is your route profile? That's odd. We haven't seen that in quite a bit of testing here.

    It's custom, based on RV.
  • The categories I have defined in BC doesn't show up on my Zumo590 (after transfering them to the device of course).
Is the Z590 not supporting/ compatible with those waypoint categories?

To be honest, I am not familiar with what the device supports, however, each device is different. Some support categories and some don't. The categories are in the GPX files just like they used to be some time ago, but we don't take folders into account like we used to. Now we have a tag-cloud that represents the categories.

It's working fine with nuvis, at least on my 2508 and 1490.

Like I said, if the device itself doesn't support categories then they won't show up. I will do some research and find out if that device is supposed to.

I found that the route isn't tracking completely into corners in some cases. I have attached screen snips to illustrate.

At zoom levels above 10 miles, I can't tell. In zoom levels 10,7 & 5 miles, you can see that the route doesn't reach the corner. Zooming to 3 miles and tighter, the route clearly covers the corner properly.

Also, you can see from my return path under it, it is directional. The return route properly covered the corner at all zoom levels.

This is of no consequence to me, but I thought you folks might be interested.

    BC 4.3.1
    CA NA NT 2014.4

    BaseCamp Error loading

After d/l Map update CN 2015.10 using Garmin Express (latest version) Express crashed my computer (WIN 7 Pro) restarted. Start Basecamp & it showed the Mapdate CN2018.10, but it needed to be unlocked, did this Online. Then Basecamp showed that the Map update CN2015.10 had disappeared. Rerun Express & reinstall CN2015.10 maps, again computer crashed & after this Basecamp gives error "MSVCR90.dll' missing.
I have tried a restore to a previous day (21st May) after that & uninstall/reinstall Basecamp (latest Version) I get 'Runtime Error R6034'

Am at a loss what to try next.

    Any thoughts

EDIT: Well I managed to get RESTORE to wok, starting in Safe Mode selecting the 21st May point & from there Basecamp worked. Updated Garmin Express, created another Restore Point.
Didn't do an update to the maps as I'm heading out Friday for a 2 week trip....I'll wait a few more weeks to see if anything changes. Another note a friend I'm traveling with also had issues updating his Zummo.

    MSVCR120.dll is missing?

I tried to upgrade BaseCamp 4.2.2 to 4.3.1 but I got a very strange error. After the upgrade downloaded and installed, when I tried to run it, it said that it couldn't run because "MSVCR120.dll is missing" from my system. I have no idea where this came from as v 4.2.2 was running fine just moments before. Should I try to download and install this .dll? I don't like installing system files unless I'm sure that they're both valid and necessary.
  • I would suggest no, (as several respected sources on the internet also suggest, in this circumstance). Do not try to download and install the "missing" .dll.. On my laptop which got this same error, the .dll is in fact on the system, but as reported in an above Garmin developer post, there is a problem in the installer code that they implemented (I presume from the post wording) that tries to recognize and use the latest, compatible vintage of the MSVCR120.dll that might already be on the system, rather than having the installer blindly load a copy of the C runtime .dll during the install process, that at some point over the released code life will become down level or mismatch with what's already on your computer.

I think Garmin is trying to do this the right way long term. Wait for their fix to this problem... If you have been running the 4.3.0.3 beta code, it will still work just fine.. Use it in the interim until the fix is available.

This article from Microsoft sheds some light on this.. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn448963%28v=vs.85%29.aspx and also (indirectly) suggests how you could mess up your system if you just find some version of the code on the internet and load it on your system and get a code level mis-match... Looks like Microsoft has changed their C Runtime distribution strategy in Windows 8 compared to Windows 7 and earlier versions that is probably making life more difficult right now for application developers during the transition period.

Nothing but praise for Garmin and the Basecamp development team.
I for one am excited about all the great upgrades and additions your're working on.
As a programmer, I know what you're up against. A technical nightmare.

Good job guys and thanks for all your hard work!

Windows 8.1 w/BaseCamp 4.3.1 and Garmin Express. Used Garmin Express to download/install 2015.10 into my system. The map is already in my Nuvi 2557.

Came back and found it had crashed as I was at the login screen. BaseCamp fails to load with Runtime Error R6034 -- like many others in this post.

Uninstall / Reinstall fails to correct this problem -- as noted in other posts.

I just want the developers to know -- add one more to the list.

    Any ETA on a fix?

Recent posts just seem to be a string of "crash/fail for me too" entries. Would really be nice to know when we can plan on using BaseCamp again. 8^(
