There is a fix for that issue posted above Bogusky. It says to reinstall basecamp. But the add/remove programs uninstall/install won't do it. After you uninstall you need to delete the c"\progam files\garmin\basecamp folder. Or rename it then deleted it after you get it working. Delete that folder then download and install the latest version of BaseCamp.exe

Rather than throw insults have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling? Seems to resolve the issues for others.

the uninstalling isn't working its leaving files in the c:\program files\garming\basecamp. Delete or rename that basecamp folder then install the new basecamp it will work. Yes, its slop we used to package programs, you have account for this in your uninstall and/or install programs. Good luck everybody. Bye.
  • I had exactly the same frustrating problem and called Garmin support. They duplicated the problem on their computers but were unable to offer a solution. Glad the forum found a solution ...... it saved me from another day of waiting 2 hours to talk to support. Thanks to everyone for the solution noted above.
  • 4.3.1 and sure problem in the beta I didn't find..

When a route has been edited to establish a departure time (Edit Via Point) function, the start time successfully transfers to the GPS (3597 in this case) and works fine.. However there are times after I've used the route that I want to leave it in BaseCamp (and the GPS) but clear the departure date and time.. I thought if I removed the check mark on the departure date and time field in the Edit Via Point screen that it would clear the route as being scheduled, but it does not..

I can however after the route has been loaded into the 3597, use its menu to "Clear Departure Time" and that successfully clears the departure time and date and lists the route under the Unscheduled Trips category.. Perhaps you could put this on your next release as an item to fix..

    --------------------------------------------

btw I, as I'm sure the BaseCamp team is also, disappointed that installer team didn't a better job on the packaging and the installer script for the released 4.3.1 code. But I think we ought to keep the comments to the point, report the problems and leave the vitriolic comments out..

What other GPS company is providing an application like BaseCamp, especially for free, and continuing software updates and improved functionality over the life of the product you bought?

If you want leading edge functionality, sometimes referred to as bleeding edge, you have to accept that sometimes there is going to be some pain associated with it.
  • After installing BaseCamp 4.3.1 I noticed that changing the "Sort By" option in My Collection to "By Name/Ascending" that the changes are not saved upon exit and restart of the application. Anyone else noticed that issue?
