I am trying to figure out the best way to pan and zoom when trying to layout a custom motorcycle route. I know the "h" will let you pan, but how do you get back to adding points where you left off? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Panning: for short pans, use the arrow keys are move the cursor close to the edge or corner of the map pane and press the left mouse key. For longer pans use ctrl-arrow keys. An alternative is to use the Overview Map found on the View toolbar. It behaves like the hand pan tool. The shade area in the Overview Map window represents the area visible in the larger Map window.
I try not to use 'h' or the 'pan tool' when I'm constructing routes. As BTLAAKE posted, just use the arrow keys. If you do come out of the route and switch to the pan tool, to restart inserting points from where you left off select the insert tool and hover over the last point until a black circle appears, then click and you're good to go again.
