Garmin Nuvi 2497 & Basecamp

We have just purchased this model and I have watched the videos of how to create a route on Basecamp and send it to the Sat Nav which is fine. If I play the route on Basecamp there are no hitches but when I use it in the car the Sat Nav wants to turn round to the first destination point. In the screen the dot is showing the second destination point but if I put it to the last destination point then the Sat Nav makes its own route up rather than following my selected route.

What am I doing wrong?:confused: Any advice would be greatly received.

Did you start the trip from the beginning where you passed through the first destination? Or did you start mid-trip, somewhere past the first destination? If you started mid trip, in the trip planner app on the nuvi you would want to select the next destination that you will come to when you start the trip.

Assuming that the above explanation is not the problem you are having, the other possibility is that you did not come close enough to the first destination to satisfy the nuvi that you "reached" that point. This can happen for example if you select a POI such as a Walmart store as a destination. The store location may be several hundred feet away from the road, so by just driving by it on the street, the nuvi doesn't "think" you reached the destination and will attempt to reroute you back to it. The solution to this problem is to make sure all your destination points are on or very near to the roadway your are traveling on. Even then, it is possible in certain circumstances that the nuvi will miss it and try to route you back. In that case, the easiest thing to do is to cancel the route in progress, reselect the trip and select the next upcoming destination.
