Crazy GPS shuts off in the middle of route work?

So I spent about 30 minutes carefully re-arranging waypoints on a trip with 30 waypoints. almost done and the damn thing shuts off? what the heck is that?

Needless to say, I lost all my hard work.
First one to do this
BTW...this is a replacement for the replacement 2595 that didn't work.

Nuvi 2595
ALL current updates - battery fully charged

UPDATE -
Now it seems to be shutting itself off every few minutes. Ridiculous.
  • For a long route it's best/easiest to create the route in Basecamp then send it to your nuvi. However note that you can only have 30 waypoints in a route, if you were planning on your nuvi and were using more than 30 waypoints that may have caused the issue

None of the routes have more than 27 waypoints.

None of the other Nuvis ever shut down randomly with the EXACT same data loaded. It's THIS unit.

On the FLIP side of the coin...........

Garmin has come through and went through extended efforts to help me resolve this issue.
I must say that despair and agony has been replaced with good will and satisfaction due to the efforts of one
    very good Garmin employee.

Not sure how I got so many bad units, but I can say Garmin stepped in to help me BIG time.

My faith in Garmin is restored.
  • Is it new/under warranty? If so return it for a replacement. If not master reset it, that usually resolves issues like this. You don't say which device you have, but if it's one where it has a 'sleep' mode then it's a good idea to switch it off completely every so often, so it does a 'cold' rather than 'warm' start, it's a computer at the end of the day so just like any computer a switch off/switch on resolves many issues :)

I've bought Garmins for years and the only time I had a few unexplained shutdowns was with some early software on my 1490. Knowing what I know about other makes I wouldn't buy anything other than a Garmin.
