But why so many? One is not enough per inch when fully zoomed in? Most routes only have one where this route has three or four in the same tiny segment of the route?
Precisely. There are too many. I looked at the details of the route and there are no duplicates of waypoints or anything. But what's happening is that it's going to some waypoints more than once.
I would, but the darn thing is busy reloading the gmapprom again and again....it takes about 20 minutes each time and there's been no updates at all. Grrrrr. If it ever lets me use the program again I will.
I believe that is possibly the result of your route traversing a road segment multiple times. The rendering of the arrows will change with zoom level, detail shown, and even when panning the screen, so it won't show clustered together like that all the time, but when it does show that way I think the number of arrows equals the number of times the route uses that road segment. From another post, I gather you are working with routes with many (about 20?) waypoints, perhaps in a localized area, so if getting to all those places does logically route you over the same stretch of road more than once, it makes sense that it would add arrows. In your case, it looks like back and forth on a stretch of divided highway a few times.
