Nuvi 2595 doesn't disconnect from PC

When I disconnect the Nuvi 2595 from my PC, the Nuvi refuses to disconnect.
The Orange computer with the cord and nuvi device logo remain indefinitely on the screen.

Pressing the buttons on the GPS do nothing. It is esentially locked.

The only way to get it back unfrozen is to plug the USB cable back in. THEN disconnect it again.

I have no SD card installed.

There is never any option in the Windows tray to disconnect the Garmin. It does not appear in the list of connected USB devices.
However, it shows up as a Portable device and I can brows the contents of Internal Storage just fine.

Am I doing something wrong?

Unless you've done something to set your nuvi to mass storage mode it should connect as a MTP device, so won't show in the Windows tray. The best way to safely eject it is to right click the device in EXplorer and select Eject. I'd see if that works for you.
