Have you ever had a GPX file cause boot looping on a 2460 ?

Loaded a GPX file from basecamp into the 2460. It would re-boot every 15 seconds.

nothing helped until.....

I deleted everything in the GPX folder.

Re-boot stopped.

Anyone else ever have a similar problem?

Garmin says it's impossible for GPX files to cause a reboot.

Did they? Funny this board has numerous posts, for a variety of models, from users having the same issue.

Not all GPX files are created equal. Where did you get yours from?

I'd try importing your GPX into BaseCamp/MapSource or some other software to ensure it's valid. If so export it (to a new filename) and try that on your 2460.

    It was a Basecamp file.

Spoke with LIZ at Garmin Tech Support today. She assured me (yes, she checked the database) there has never been a boot looping issue caused by GPX files. Ever.
When I told her that I loaded a gpx file from Basecamp and then it started boot-looping then stopped after I deleted ALL the files in the GPX folder, she said she never heard of that. She put me on hold to consult THEIR internal support team and eventually came back saying nope, noone who works at Garmin has ever heard of GPX files causing that problem.
She said GPX files were not capable of causing that issue.

How could I argue? I'm not a trained Garmin Technician with access to her resources.
But it sure seemed that way to me.
On the other hand, she also said the 2460 did NOT have the Trip Planning feature

I WILL say on her behalf however, she was as nice as could be and tried hard to help me.

I'd say that's true. To my knowledge, until recently, Garmin Support did not read this or any other forum on the internet.

The two Garmin Express forums here are moderated by Garmin Support but those forums were only created a few weeks ago (to specifically support GE). Some Garmin developers do read and post to specific (e.g. BaseCamp) forums. That said this board is mainly (for now) user to user.

Now if they would just add a few forums for the Hardware devices.

User have been asking that for years. As I said in your other thread Garmin has showed no interest in doing that. Maybe they'll change their mind but I wouldn't hold my breath.

    Sad.
Even if Garmin did not want to provide support in those categories, the sharing of and creation of a user to user knowledge base over those missed years would be an invaluable resource by now.
I'll venture a WAG and say that they didn't want all the negativity and bad customer feedback on their forum. Maybe. But transparency usually leads to trust.
I'm noone to say, but it sounds like a heck of a missed opportunity on Garmins part, or whoever made THAT decision.

Here are a few places that have taken and run with that ball ....
    forums.gpsreview.net
    www.gpspassion.com
    www.engadget.com
    www.poi-factory.com
    gpsunderground.com

I guess the world isn't waiting for Garmin ;-)

Well I, and others, have been doing just that for years. For example look at my join date and post count. Also look in the hundreds, perhaps thousands, of threads where real-world (from real users) solutions have been posted.

The same is true of the other forums you linked to.
