Routing in Basecamp on new PC

I purchased an HP "notebook" PC for use with my GPS devices.

This past weekend, while out of town, I downloaded BaseCamp to this new PC.

The software downloaded to my desktop and I ran the install from there. Everything seemed fine.

I attached on of my RINO 655T devices and uploaded everything from the RINO to BaseCamp. Again, all seemed well.

I built a route going from Alamogordo, NM back to Santa Fe, NM. And it "auto routed" as I expected. Following the roads that would be traveled.

I then tried to build a route to an from the same waypoints, but going through Albuquerque, NM. All I could get was a "direct" route. A straight line? HUH?

I had BaseCamp set for "driving".

I tried a lot of things, but could not get BaseCamp to do anything but a direct route.

Anyone else have this problem? Have I missed a preference some where?

Thanks,

Please check to make sure you do not have the "Global Map" selected. This will yield only a direct route for all route types. If you attach a device, it should use your device's map.

Do you have Basecamp installed on a previous computer and did it show your maps, like CNNA 2013, when the device wasnot connected? If so, you need to migrate those maps to the new computer.
This is easily done with JaVaWa GMTK: http://www.javawa.nl/gmtk_en.html

Otherwise, when connected, your device's maps should show and be useable on the new installation. Sometimes, though, maps may not be enabled to "Show in BaseCamp".
To fix that get JaVaWa Device Manager: http://www.javawa.nl/jdm_en.html

May have nothing to do with you issue, but it happened to me.

    Indeed Global Maps is selected.

So I will try again with my Rino655T attached.

But, how do I install other map sets so that I can build routes and trips without a GPS connected?

So much of what I use is Southwest 24K. Do I need to install this software on this new PC?

How do I do that? Its been a while since I put it on my ZUMO 660, and don't have it on either of my Rino655T devices.

Sorry if I'm coming across stupid. I'm a TBI survivor and my memory doesn't work the very best.

    Thanks much,

Yes, you need to MIGRATE your existing maps, assuming you still have them on a working PC. See my reply above. Go to the JaVaWa webpage and read how to do it.
