Because it is frequently necessary to switch between items on the "Drawing Tools" and "Map Tools" toolbars, making their items available on a shortcut menu (right click in Windows) would facilitate doing so. (In MapSource, with the "Select" arrow active, double-clicking a route segment enabled dragging the route to a new "via," which was a good feature.) 4.3.0.2 Beta, with Waypoint categories enabled, is superb!:D
Not sure if you're aware but you can now right click a route and select Insert waypoint ... and with the route and pan tool selected you can also press Alt then drag to insert a waypoint.
