Everytime I create a route on basecamp, transfert it in my device. I cannot use it.

Before upgrading to the last version of the firmware it's very easy, each time I want to use the route the device crash (freeze in fact, I need to get out batteries).

Now It's little better nothing crash or freeze but when I do

"Find" --> Route --> Select a route create on basecamp

the device show me the route on a map but no "GO" so I never switch to guidance mode.

Any help would welcome

  • Are you allowing time for the route to be sent before disconnecting your GPS? Do you 'safely eject'?

If not the gpx file may be corrupted.

If you're doing everything correctly and you still have issues, and given you've just updated the software on your GPS, you should try a master reset
  • I have a 62s and have similar problems. Short routes work fine when accessed via Find>Routes, but longer routes cause a crash. I have tried a master reset and still have the problem with longer routes. If you continue to have problems, activate the route thru the Route Planner - it always works.
  • I suspect he means open Route Planner on your 62 and select the route there rather than doing a Where to, Routes.
  • That's correct. It will either be one of the Pages or under the Main Menu (press the Menu key twice). Select the Route, press Enter then View then Go. If you would like the Route Planner to be one of the Pages, choose Main Menu > Setup > Page Sequence to add it or replace an existing page.
  • You can report problems through your country’s Garmin website via support or Garmin USA.

You didn’t provide very much information on your route. Automated Routes (any profile other than Direct) are limited to 50 user points (points you enter into the route). The 62 series will convert Automated Routes to Direct Routes if the Profile on the 62 is Direct. Direct Routes are point to point, they do not follow routable features (e.g. roads).

I suppose it is possible to create a route that will exceed the maximum number of total points (your points plus the points supplied during the calculation) that the memory can handle. You could try breaking the route into two routes and see if this solves the problem.
  • Absolutly not. My route have....3 points...

I meant the total number of points in the route, not the points you entered.

More importantly, I updated my units software to version 5.4 and that seems to have fixed my issues. If you are not running 5.4 I suggest you update and see if it fixes your problem.
