Hi there, first post here and i am wondering if anybody has done a investigation about icons in a nuvi 3597?
I have loaded an own file and i created my own icon for it, i used the size 48x48 and saved it as an Bmp with 256 colors, with some fields with transparacy were i used magenta: RGB 255 0 255.

I looks awful compared to the other "factory" icons on my map! I am not an artist but i cant take all the blame.
So if someone here already done this and have some tips regarding format, size, the "bit-thing" or other stuff like that, i am very interested to listen, i dont like my own icon and i am jealous of the factory-icons and my goal is to get a good looking icon for my pois.

best regards Jocke

First off I didn't know you could put custom waypoint symbols on a nuvi. I guess that ability was added for your 3597.

I'm not sure but 48x48 symbols seems a bit large. On my 1490T I think they're 24x24 (mine are part of a custom POI database) and those look ok.

PS: On my Oregon 450 and nuvi 1490T custom symbols in a POI database are

24x24. 256 color, magenta for transparency, Windows BMP's.

My 76CSx icons are 16x16 (the rest is the same).
