Nuvi maps in basecamp

I have a UK bought Nuvi 3598lmt-d with maps of Europe and North America (2014.40).

Just as a matter of interest I had trouble getting the map of North America to work and only achieved this by moving the map from the SDCard to internal memory.

But when I am in Basecamp with the Nuvi attached I can only access the Europe map.

I understand that I can copy the nuvi maps to the laptop so that they can be used without attaching the nuvi.

Into which directory must I copy the maps?

Well it would be OK to choose Global Nuclear War as long as you don't put the telephone handset into the acoustic coupler for the 300 baud modem. ;)

I never owned a IMSAI 8080 but I did have access to a MITS Altair 8800 in the mid 1970's. We programmed it in BASIC.

That said I did buy and build another (lesser known) "home computer" kit around that time. Although I threw it away in the mid-80's I have, via eBay, bought an original built (and working!) kit, along with an original unbuilt one and all the original manuals. It's very rare to find what I have and prices on eBay for only part of what I possess have been rising in recent years.

I used to subscribe to BYTE magazine and was really tempted by those kits but never pulled the trigger. I did buy one of the first Apple ][ computers in 1978 however (serial #4546). There were no disk drives, you had to provide your own cassette tape recorder. :D

Perhaps. But then if the microprocessor revolution hadn't happened in the 1970's we probably wouldn't have handheld GPS units, desktop computers, mobile phones and all the other goodies we now take for granted.
