Road Labels On Global Base Map

I've recently got a new PC with Win 7 Pro 64 bit and installed the latest (pre 4.3 Beta release) Basecamp and my maps and tracks etc. imported OK.

Below is a screen grab of an area of Birdseye Select British OS 25k maps in Basecamp with the labels of the Global Base Map road numbers over-layed.

Because of the inaccuracy of the scale of the Base Map the labels are generally some distance away from where they should be. I really don't want to see these labels at all but can't turn them off.

I had this problem with my previous Win XP PC but overcame it by installing an Empty World Map as recommended by POPEJ. This consisted of 180 IMG files, a TDB file and an MDX file. There is a BATCH file to install it but this just generates errors on the new PC.

So my question is either . . . How can I make the labels go away OR is there another Base Map I can use which does not have these type of labels?

I think the best you can do is go to

Edit, Options, Display and set the Labels slider to Fewer.

Also look in Edit, Options, Activity Profile, Map Display Features.

Another option that may work for you is to press Ctrl-G (Basic Map Only toggle).

Thank you . . . Edit, Options, Activity Profile, Map Display Features and un-check Transportation in the Lines section did the trick. I think everything else on the Global Base Map (like Political Boundaries) is part of the map - it's just the roads that have labels.

Setting the labels slider to Fewer does nothing on the Base Map.

    Thanks again.

Just realised that major cities still showed up (in my area Liverpool and Manchester) so I've turned those off also. Can't find anything to turn off Ocean/Sea labels (eg: Irish Sea) but as I won't be walking on water I don't think that will be a problem. The Base Map thinks that the River Mersey is still the Irish Sea to a point East of Runcorn - about 20 miles from the mouth of the river.
