How to find address in BaseCamp

To search for an address (which will be much easier in 4.3 if the beta is anything to go by) the simplest way I've found so far is:

Hit Ctrl + Alt + F which brings up the search box. Check the address radio button is selected in Type, then in the location box start to type the town name, Placerville ... as you type the list populates so at some point you can select it. Now in the search box top right enter 444 Main and hit search ...

It is best to avoid designations like St., Street, E., East etc. when looking for an address when possible. For your example, you should first try entering '444 main, placerville, ca' (BaseCamp will auto correct capital letters when searching) in the upper right search box. If Addresses isn't selected when the Top Results appear, go ahead and select it now.

Indeed you did:). The point I was trying to make (badly) was that it is not necessary to find the city first, at least for the North American maps. In general terms, a search entry in the top right window can be of the form: POI or Address, City, State/Province, Country.

For a POI, any part of the name will suffice. If the address has a number in the street name, a street number will be needed if you are to have any luck. For an address like “100 County Road 100 West, Some City, Some State”, I would enter “100 100, Some City, Some State”. In the past, street numbers were not always found, so if a search fails, drop the address number to find the street if needed. For the North American maps, a Country designation (abbreviated form) would only be necessary if there were a City in a State/Province (abbreviated form) that had the same names (same abbreviated form for the State/Province) in two countries.

What should be returned is a proximity search centered on the city coordinates.
