  • New address search looks better but doesn't appear to work. I can enter just a postcode in the search box top right and it works. If I try to enter it in the new 'address box' it doesn't.

Also if I just enter street name and town it doesn't work.

In fact nothing works in that box, which is a real shame as it populates OK as I type, just doesn't find anything!

    CN EU map selected.

Doing some more work on this I get a different result if instead of getting to the Search box by hitting Ctrl + Alt + F (which always in the past produced the best results) I click on the toolbar and select Find, Find addresses. I get a result and one I would expect, at least for the top entry. With the example below I entered the postcode BN14 9PG and the number 1, this gives 1 Gorse Avenue, Worthing which is correct but I then get entries some 400 miles away that bear no relation to the search I entered:

If I don't use the postcode I get a different (and better) result, so something isn't quite correct:

  • Can you post your steps for your first and second point?

    Yes, that's no problem.
If posting screenshots of the map (CN2014.4) and/or of the Basecamp application is fine, then I will attach some pictures of a sample route also.

ctrl-I shortcut for import -> crash BaseCamp
File - Import -> crash BaseCamp

Reset my user.config and in baseCamp a reset, this clears up something and now it works.

What still not works with searching is searching while using a Map from an GPS device. For example with the zumo 390 the map is City Navigator 2014.x and shown in BaseCamp as CN .... 2014.x when I select this map from the zumo and try to search an address. it never finds anything. This was already a problem in the current BaseCamp production version.
Even searching a city like: amen nld it's not found. If I use the map from the computer it finds them instant.

May be there is a problem to read the index from the map of the device, please fix this, or make an additional warning and disable of searching when using a map from an GPS.

It's with all maps from microSD or from internal storage of Garmin GPS devices (motor/car/outdoor/sport).

Searching using the Trip planner does work with the CN map from the GPS (or is that one sneaky using other maps from my computer as well?).

Normal search crashes BaseCamp: type in münchen, i doubt and did some backspace, crash. wanted to remove the comma and make it space ger or dui as country.

    Where was your user.config file?

The user.config (XML) file is found in

    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\GARMIN_Corp\BaseCamp.exe_Url_<some alphanumeric characters>\<version>\

    on Vista/Win7/Win8.

Non-beta installations will automatically copy the user.config from the previous version to the current. Beta's don't do that. However you can do it manually (what I did).

PS: BC keeps most, but not all, user preferences in the user.config file. Some are kept in the Windows Registry just to make life "interesting" :D

These are windows size settings and also your activities. And these are shared between Beta and normal BaseCamp.

If you want to test BC Beta standalone, create another user on your PC (COntrol Panel - User Accounts) and start th BC Beta in this user session and not in your normal working user environment!

There's some other stuff too. The stuff in the registry isn't stored per version (like user.config) so it is common between versions. As you say creating another user allows you to have different settings.

FYI the users (registry) settings are in

    HKCU\Software\Garmin\BaseCamp\Settings

Faulting module name: aticfx32.dll, version: 8.17.10.1047..........

That file is the configuration dynamic linked lib for your ati video driver, try to update it, if you don't have Ati, this can be your problem.
It was Toshiba's fault. As there is an option for C660 to be configured with ATI video card, they include same driver package to both Intel HD and ATI video card laptops. But in the case of Intel HD laptop, having ATI drivers on board affects some software. Not only Workbench, but games and other software is affected by it (by google search)

What i did what reinstall Intel HD drivers again, but this time manually selecting the driver.

Hopefully this could be useful in the future, if anyone else has the same problem.
