I have been trying make up a route for a trip in France.

Using Google maps to search for a desired route I then draw a trip route in Basecamp, from the port of Caen I plotted a route on the N158 to Falaise, on Google maps it shows the A88 as a direct route to Sees then pick up the A28 to Le Mans.

When I tried to locate the A88 on BasedCamp, it's not there! How come a motorway is missing?

Which map were you using? The A88 is on the CN EU map and shows in Basecamp if using that map.

BaseCamp version 4.2.5 version 2.3.1.0

Not sure what you mean by CN EU map!

Think I know what you mean now City Navigator NT version v9.

City Navigator Europe NT :)

Yes, the City Navigator Europe map ... as found on the nuvi range and others ... it's the one you should probably be using if you're planning a trip through France.

Right I think I know where your coming from now, I have a Garmin Zumo550 and Nuvi 2445 LMT, both are up to date with lifetime maps.

What I am trying to do is plot a route on my laptop using BaseCamp, and then transfer it to my SatNav ready for the road trip, but the A88 does not show on BaseCamp on my laptop.

Plug your nuvi into your laptop, Basecamp will read the map from there. You'll then be able to plot the route on the same map your nuvi will use, which is always a good idea.

At the moment you'll just be seeing the basemap that comes with Basecamp, that map is fairly inaccurate and lacks detail.

All sorted now, many thanks.

Plugged in Nuvi 2445 and the A88 was there, so I can plot a route on my Nuvi rather than BaseCamp.

Well you can actually plot it on Basecamp provided your nuvi is connected, then send it to your nuvi. Easier to work out routes etc on the PC than on the smaller nuvi screen.

And one can always create a clone of their unit so they don't need to keep it connected. Or one can install maps to their computer during the map update process.
