  • I don’t own your device, but the problem you describe is usually device related. One thought that comes to mind is that the USB port you are using doesn’t supply power to the device and your batteries are getting weak. Try different USB ports and fresh batteries.

Re-installing the firmware on your device will sometimes correct problems, but in your case I would not try it. There is a good chance your unit will power off before installation is complete.

Next I would suggest do a web search for “Garmin Oregon Wiki” and see if there is a wiki page for your device. They usually have a discussion section where you may find your problem/solution. They also tend to a Miscellaneous page where they describe various known problems/solutions as well as advanced reset procedures.

If at all possible, grab the data off your device before trying the advanced resets, as some may wipe out all user data.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

Is you PC a laptop running on batteries? If so I'd check your power management settings. It is possible your PC's UBS ports are being turned off.

My Oregon 450 will immediately turn off if I "eject" it regardless of it's battery level etc. I suspect a power management "eject" would do the same.
