In Basecamp::
double-click route; brings up box; select Route Directions;
select PrintER and change print destination to PRINT TO FILE
it seems to work - but - I can not find the File

? does Print To File actually work in Basecamp ?
? what File Name is created ?
? what directory is it sent to ?

thanks, Bob

    update::

    Yes, it will Print To File and you get to name it.
    However, the file format is crazy.
    Can not be imported into Excel or Word or Picture software.
    Wherein I want to edit & combine with Directions for multiple Routes - so if Zumo flakes on long trip - I will have backup directions on thumb drive.

    ?? any suggestions ??
  • Click on the Route Directions tab, then right click and Select All, then right click again and select copy. Paste that into Word.

    Does that do what you want?
  • The OP has posted this advice on another forum, I'm reproducing it here as it works perfectly and may help others:

    The best trick for Route Directions that I have found is to copy & paste into NotePad. Then open NotePad file with Excel (select Delimited with commas) and you get all the data separated nicely into columns. From here you can do anything you want in Excel.

    For example Save As pdf file and send to Kindle, smartphone, whatever just in case your Zumo goes for a swim and flakes.
  • There is no need to go through NotePad. Just paste directly into Excel and under the Data menu select “text to columns”, choose delimited and check comma.

    There are some issues. First is that BaseCamp fails to insert a delimiter for blank fields. This will cause some column misalignment. Second is that BaseCamp sometimes uses a comma within a field. This will also lead to column misalignment – typically will occur in the Leg Time or Total Time column where hours and minutes will appear in separate columns.

    To be honest, it would be better if BaseCamp used tab as the delimiter (makes conversion to columns automatic when pasting into Excel).
