How do you hide/turn-off geocache and other POI icons?

I must start off by saying that I am entirely new to Garmin BaseCamp and finding it very difficult to use compared to Memory-Map that I have used for years. My setup is that I am using the latest version of Basecamp, a Garmin Oregon 650 (a recent replacement for an aging yellow eTrex) and OSM mapping.

My problem is that when I connect my Oregon GPS to my laptop and open Basecamp to review a track, the map fills up with all the POI and waypoint icons as well as the tracks and routes with the labels for the Geocache POIs/waypoints totally obliterating much of the underlying map.

I have tried all the ways I can find to somehow "turn-off" or "hide" the various POIs to reveal the underlying tracks. I have tried altering the map detail level; using only the base (Global) mapping etc. I have also tried altering the filters, but all that seems to do is to hide/show different items in the "My Collection" lists. Whatever I do still leaves all the POIs and their labels obscuring the map. In Memory Map I can simply right click on the map and then have the option to Hide or Show all the different categories of items either individually or globally. What I am looking for is some means of doing the same in BaseCamp.

I have also tried searching the forum for any solution but not found anything useful so far. This begs the question "What am I doing wrong if nobody else is having this problem?". Can anyone help me please
  • What shows on the map is what is selected. If you look on the right-side of the app you will see a tree of lists and folders, etc. If you un-highlight the device after it connects the icons will disappear. Another option is you can yank all of that data off the device and put it on the PC in organized lists and work with them that way.
