Hi, all.
BaseCamp routing isn't working properly.
I'm using City Navigator United States NT as the map and I'm on a PC running Windows 7 software.
I just purchased another Garmin device (eTrex 20) and the mapware is installed on that device and you can only see it in BaseCamp with the device attached by USB.
I created nine waypoints which I wanted to go to by creating a route and then downloading that to my eTrex.
I access the Routing tool and first tried using the Wizard by dragging and dropping my first waypoint and my last waypoint into the two fields. Then I added the remaining waypoints in the order in which I wanted to visit them. Then I clicked on the Recalculate button and the route it gave me went east, south, west, and then north again before going to my second waypoint...adding more than 300 miles to my route (a route that should have been almost a straight shot north on the freeway). I tried to modify that segment of the route but couldn't so I deleted the route and started over.
This time, I intended to hand-enter the route by using the route mouse tool. I clicked on the first waypoint to start the route and then on the second. The route between the first and second waypoints was immediately drawn but, once again, it circled all the way around the first point adding the additional 300+ miles again.
No matter what I've tried, BaseCamp routes me from my first waypoint to my second (a 30-mile trip) in a circuitous route that is completely insane and makes no logical sense at all.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it?
My eTrex will be of minimal use to me if I cannot create my routes on my computer and then sync them to the device. Hand-entering each location on the device would be unreasonable, especially when I want to ride cross-country on dirt roads and such.
Help?
Thanks!
