Nuvi 50lm

- will load Geocaching GPS co-ordinates but won't show up on screen. Tried reloading and it says "already loaded" etc.

~ can't find them anywhere. How can you locate items on the Micro-card and/or are they even loaded unto the card?
How do I retrieve info from card? Where are the caches written?

Now what?

  • Geocaches loaded to your nuvi by Basecamp should appear in your saved places. However I don't believe a 50 will show them on screen nor will it have all the cache info.
  • A nüvi* will treat geocaches just as regular waypoints/favourites, so you won't get cache info (and possible not a geocache icon, but a regular waypoint icon)

    * with the exception of the nüvi 500 series; these do support paperless geocaching.

Sussamb already knows that I'm new to my 62st and BaseCamp because they helped me earlier in a different thread with a different question.

This time... I loaded 1,000 GCCOM caches onto my 62st (in the memory card or device, tried both and in fact, I even sent them via GSAK in an attempt) and they are there, I know they are but how do i get them all to show on my screen at once or even just some of them? I've zoomed clear in and out and I can't see a single one and yet if I click "Find" and select "Geocache", they're in the unit :-/
With my 60cs, I could ride my ATV around the mountains and just watch the map screen to see if I was going to run into a geocache. You see, most of the time I just ride but shoot, I don't want to accidentally pass one up if I just about ran it over, right?

    Thanks for your time :-)
  • Do they show in Basecamp when you connect your 62 to your PC? If so they should show on the map screen of your 62, they certainly do on my Etrex 20.

Yes they sure do! I want my GPS screen to look like my BaseCamp! I'm the exact opposite of some of the people complaining about waypoint clutter, I say bring it! :-P
  • Must be a setting somewhere on your 62 somewhere. If they show in Basecamp they should show on screen. Afraid I don't have a 62 so have no idea what that might be. Maybe a filter setting somewhere?

I've been thinking the same thing. I read somewhere somebody talking about the different profiles. I think I'm viewing "ATV" in BaseCamp and here's what might be the clicker... I believe my 62 is up to date on software (It is according to my Garmin Express) but I have yet to find an "ATV" profile on it. Maybe I need to play around with profiles for a bit and see what I can learn.
