Checking available memory on GPS62s

I am still hating Basecamp.

I have spent several hours trying to add a small number of waypoints. I suspected that I had too many waypoints on the device because I had unintentionally loaded the whole of a large file of waypoints but I cannot find any way either in Basecamp or on the GPS62s of checking the number of waypoints in use and number free.

Eventually I gave up and just deleted a lot of them, the new waypoints then were visible on the GPS62s.

At no time was any error message displayed to indicate that the new ones were not being loaded to the device because its memory was full. I am sure that I got a warning with my old GPS and Mapsource when this happened.

I also kept getting a message on switching the GPS62s back on that 'An image file in a Custom Map is too big. Images that are too big will not be on the map'. Again no more help to indicate which file so I just deleted all the custom maps and seems OK now.

I think someone at Garmin needs to sit down and make using Basecamp a pleasant experience and not a real PITA.
