Updating Geocache Coordinates

Am I missing a way to update the coordinates of 'mystery' or 'puzzle' Geocaches in BaseCamp? It seems like the only way I can do this after I have solved the puzzle and updated the coordinates on the geocache web page is to delete the geocaches from BaseCamp and download them again. The new download will have the corrected coordinates.

There does not seem to be any way to edit coordinates of geocaches and if I just download them again after making the online corrections, I'll get duplicates in the list with '.1' added to the name. Waypoints are no problem, they can be edited. Geocaches cannot be edited in BaseCamp or on the handheld device.

This is by design I believe, but I will have to check on that.
  • Any time I have an updated coordinate for a next stage or solution to any geocache I just create a new waypoint, properly titled, with the new coordinates.

It would be nice if we could edit field notes for each geocache to add these 'waypoints' or other notes to specific geocaches, such as is possible directly from the Geocaching website. Of course, we would need to be able to do this on the GPSr as well as in BasseCamp, so an orchestrated effort would be required by BaseCamp developers and the Geocaching GPSr capable software engineers to make this feature/function integration smooth and seamless. Which pretty much means it ain't never gonna happen.
  • Yes, I was also using added Waypoints to designate the final locations. But it makes for a much cleaner map display when the ? icon is updated with the actual coordinates instead of having two icons for one cache. And I don't have to jump back and forth between the Geocaches and Waypoints pages to navigate and log the cache. The only way I could get the caches with updated coordinates into BaseCamp was to delete the originals in BaseCamp and then import them again after they were corrected on Geocaching.com.
