Strange routing

Regarding adding via's to stay on the route you want.

I'm driving my RV on I-95 from Washington DC north to East Long Island...BaseCamp routes me across the George Washington Bridge and then immediately north I-87 to I-287 then east back to I-95 again then south on I-95 to I-678 and then to I-495.

For some reason BaseCamp is making this big detour to avoid 6-8, miles of I-95 in the Bronx's area.

Microsoft Streets and Trips, takes me straight through, does anyone know why BaseCamp doesn't want me on that section of road?

It could be a number of factors. You would have to check your routing profile. If you have certain avoidances selected (I'm not sure which ones necessarily) then it will route you around. If you put a shaping point in the areas that you want to go, it will correct your route. You might try changing though from calculate based on shortest time not shortest distance. And I used to live there... the GW bridge from that direction seems a bit of a run around just to avoid the Bronx. Besides... Yankee stadium is in the Bronx :)
  • the avoidance's don't seem to be the issue, if you have to add a via point at every exit ramp to keep you on the road then BaseCamp doesn't want you on that road...I learned that this section of I-95 through the Bronx has propane restrictions, something BaseCamp doesn't put in your profile, I happen to have a coach that does use propane, but what if I had an all electric coach (my next one) or as I was told, you just need to turn off the main shut-off when at the tool booth and you can travel through that area. I think the RV760 asks about propane in the profile you create, but BC doesn't, so why does it assume I shouldn't be on that road?

I am not entirely sure. Can you post to me pr PM me some data that I may test your issue?
