Unlocking regions? Is it still needed?

I have the most current version of BaseCamp installed on a Windows 8 computer with lots of RAM and storage. The map pane shows City Navigator North America NT 2014.3. There is a lack of street level detail in the many states as well as Alaska and the Canada provinces.

My GPS unit connected to the computer is a NUVI 2555 LM-and I have a good data connection.

I use to remember we had to unlock map regions (back in the day when storage in the GPS device was limited)-possibly in Map Source. Is this still necessary to restore detail in BaseCamp? And if so, how do I do it-I have already connected the GPS and clicked on "retrieve unlock codes to no success.

Ensure even though you have the correct map selected that 'Basic map' is not checked in the View drop down list.

Also check Map Detail is set to highest. If the Map Detail box isn't showing select it in View, Toolbars, Detail Level.

Also. You can look at the map that is stored on the computer as well as the one stored on the GPS. Make sure you are looking at the computer versions. Are you also sure that you in fact have the complete North america version as there are US only versions.
