Time of arrival to wpts

I was waiting for someone more expert than I to answer, but I'll take a stab at it. You can't totally eliminate the time estimates showing in route properties AFAIK. The ETD for the first waypoint is generally set to the current date/time at the moment you open the properties window by default and the remaining points arrival times are calculated based on the travel times shown, and no layover times. That ETD seems to only change when you close BC and re-open it, then it resets to the then-current time that you next open the route properties window.

You can change any of the dates/times by editing an individual point in the route and it will calculate the rest. To do this either double click on a point, or single click to select and then click on the clock icon. The little clock is only active when a single point is selected, that's why it didn't seem to work for you. For intermediate points you can edit the arrival, departure, or layover times.

Note I'm still on 4.1.2, so I guess there might have been some changes on later versions, but I think the basic approach is the same. Hope this helps.

It does. I see now how this thing works. Thx for your help. I am working on a multi-day trip for later in the spring, and I find that information as presented there distracting rather than helpful. I wish I could turn it off.

No problem. I guess it would be okay to be able to turn it off, but I find it's easy to just ignore it. If you could turn it off, I bet there would be a lot of people who would do that inadvertently and then complain that Garmin went and took away another feature! ;)

I would suggest getting a sheet of paper about the size of the properties dialog box and cutting slots in it for the information that is not distracting. You can then hold this up against the screen when displaying that properties box. You are the only one that I am aware of who has requested that this long awaited feature be able to be turned off.

There is always a first isn't there? Long awaited feature for some, distraction for others, isn't it amazing how slightly different we all are? Now I do hope that you agree with me when I say that that piece of information has no relevance at all for a trip that I am working on to take place in a couple of months! One suggestion to improve this feature would be to allow you to set an ETD from the 1st wpt on the route, rather than having one assigned automatically when you open that dialog box. After all, even if your trip is to take place soon after you route it on Base Camp, unless you leave from the 1st wpt on the precise moment that you open that dialog box, the ETAs for the next wpts don't really match, right?

Lastly, looking through this forum should be enough to make you realize that not all of Garmin's new features are very, how should I say it, successful! I just updated from Map Source, and I have to admit that I am seriously considering going back to it. Base Camp is loaded with new features but, in reality, the great majority of them do not help me much; and quite a few of them actually do make what I want to do more difficult, cumbersome, or un-intuitive. I thought about replying to this thread with my transition experience as a die-hard Mapsource user, to now very ardent supporter and user of Basecamp (I long distance motorcycle tour 30-35k miles per year, and it's ALL planned on BC and run with my 665).

I thought about sharing my 15,000 mile 5 Corner (FL/ME/AK/WA/CA, leaving from and returning to CO), 18 leg, 4 week motorcycle ride that will begin the end of May, all planned in BC.

I thought about sharing that I can do so many more things with BC than I could ever accomplish easily with MS (sure, I still have a wishlist, but that's true for every piece of software I use).

I thought about pointing you to a couple of very excellent user forms (I'm sure there are more), such as zumoforums.com or the Learn Garmin Basecamp forum on Delphi where you would find a couple dozen tutorial videos to walk a new user through most all of the basic steps all the way to advanced techniques, and several users who might actually share your use profile (so they would better understand your questions & issues).

I thought about sharing my observation that those who never used Mapsource don't seem to struggle with BC, leading me to believe (certainly in my own case) that the biggest obstacle as a Mapsource user was "erasing my tapes". (BTW, I find it funny that Mapsource is not in the spelling dictionary on a Garmin forum....)

SUSSAMB, Thx for your quote of DLEFFERT (quite obviously a fellow motorcycle LDR, and from his wording, most likely an Iron Butt Association member). I was just reading it myself, and thinking about my previous post. I hear what he is saying. ...But I also hear what the guy that started that thread (I think that is titled "I had enough," or "I am quitting," or something similar). I guess I will give Base Camp a bit more time, but, pls do believe me: a lot of its "improvements", for those of us who use their GPSs for planning and routing, are no great improvements at all. One suggestion to improve this feature would be to allow you to set an ETD from the 1st wpt on the route

It is already possible to set an ETD in the current version of BaseCamp...
Double click the route in the left pane, select the first via point and click on the little 'clock' button on the right. You'll get a dialog where you can set time and date of departure.
Select another via point and click on the clock button to get even more options.
