How to extend a route, like MapSource did?

How can you extend a route using the routing tools and the map. I understand you can always open the route properties and INSERT waypoints, BUT I want to do like MapSource did and simply extend the route using the route selection or some other tool.

I fixed it! Don't ask me why, but when I closed BaseCamp and then restarted it, the dark circle now works.

Use the "Select" tool (the arrow) and select the route you want to extend.
Click on the "Insert" tool (the pencil) and move over the end of the existing route until the end point get a gray circle around it. Click once the insert tool will have a rubber band and you can start adding points.

In the past I used Mapsource to create routes.
There I always created a route by starting the route with the "create route" tool and just a few points, but then just extended the route using
the standard select tool. This has the advantage that the select tool can then be used to extend and shape the route at the same time.

It seems that the extend route option is no longer possible in BC, which means I always have to draw the route completely first with the route creation tool, and the modify the route with the edit tools.

Very annoying.

Is there a way to extend an existing route in BC? Both at the start and end point?

Yes, just select the 'Insert' tool and hover over the end point, a black circle will appear. Click and you can then extend the route.

You can move the start point, but not extend it from there.

That's incorrect information you are giving out SUSSAMB.....
BOTH ends CAN be extended.
User can only "extend" the route in the direction of travel.....so......just invert the route to work on the other end.

OK, thanks for the tip. Fairly buggy though. A lot of the time I don't get the black circle, but get the rubber band between the 2 last points. Deleting and redrawing seems to be the only solution. Still like the mapsource way more.

I get the black circle, but no rubber band. have tried it every which way. is there a bug?

No. You get the rubber band if you click when the link between points turns black, to do that hover between the 2 points. You can extend the route when you hover over the end point and it turns into a circle.

That does not work. No matter how hard I try, I do not get a gray circle. Only lines between waypoints. Ideas?
