Just when you think this "piece of s...oftware" cannot get any worse it surprises you and does!!!
Just updated the program and it got rid of all my waypoints and routes, NICE!!!!
  • Just use your back up data ... you do back up your data I guess

Anyway I suspect your data is still there, but maybe the updated Basecamp is looking at the wrong place. Which version were you previously using?

Excellent thinking!!! It is Ok to wipe out somebody's data because we are supposed to backup all files!!! Great!!!
Oh!!, the data "may" still be there!!! Playing Hide and Seek! Once again, nice...!!!!

You obviously haven't been designing, building, programming and using computers for 30+ years. I remember the days when an uptime of 15 minutes was pretty good.

I'm sorry that stuff isn't 100% perfect 100% of the time and never will be. That's why I back up my stuff in multiple places. That has saved my bacon so many times that I've lost count.

You can live in your world and I'll live in the real one.

    Come on Ed.
We are not Garmin, we are users just like you. Most of us have fought and won several battles with this software and are very willing to help you.
SUSSAMB is telling you the truth. Your data is probably still there and yes it has been hidden and yes I have played hide and seek with my hard drive.

Last year I did an update and BaseCamp installed itself on my backup hard drive E:/ not C:/ plus a new desktop shortcut so I deleted the old one.
Obviously I was not paying attention when it showed the path before installing.
So of course on E: it was a fresh install and all of my old data was missing and I was pi$$ed. I had some data backed up but not all.
After a month or so something made me check the desktop shortcut path and I was shocked to see E: drive. WTF!
I went to C: and sure enough there was a fully functioning but older version of BaseCamp with all my old data.

So dig thru your hard drive the data might be there. If you find it just leave it and come back here because you could still do the wrong thing.

    +1 DATEZZ

Were just users trying to help.

    About backup...
C: a weekly automated backup to an external HDD (sequencial full/incremental)
D: RAID 5 + occasiolally backup to an external HDD (copy)

    About BaseCamp..
I regularly delete the database as I think it should work like MapSource and not remember anything, I keep my data organized in Windows directories.

Maybe you can find your data in C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp\Database
