Installing Maps to microSD cards

Windows 7 Home Premium
Garmin BaseCamp 4.2.5
Garmin eTrex 30 3.40

Previously installed Garmin TOPO U.S. 24K Southeast DVD map.

Then installed 32GB microSD card which pc does see in it's factory FAT32 format.

Purchased downloadable version of Garmin's North America BirdsEye Satellite Imagery.

While trying to use BaseCamp to install, Basecamp says I only have 131MB of free space. How do I get BaseCamp to install onto the microSD card?

It should see it if it's in your Etrex, my card shows as a separate drive in Basecamp's lower left pane just under my Etrex 20.

BaseCamp does see it, but yet there seems no option to install a new map to SD card. Seems I have to install a tiny portion to the device, then with a right click on the sd card, I can install the map that way. Takes forever though. Currently installing the TOPO map first since that was the only option given at the moment.

Provided the map is loaded in Basecamp then you should be able to right click the card and send the full map to the sd card.

Garmin BirdsEye maps can only be sent from BaseCamp to the device with an active subscription. You can move the maps to the uSD card manually, if you wish.

Although I post here, BaseCamp says I can't download because I have no internet connection.

Maybe the Garmin server was down, I suggest you try again.

On a faster connection which is working up to the point of trying to verify device activation which is plugged in a usb port and was recognized earlier by basecamp.

I got past the place where I was told I can't download because I have no internet connection. But now it gets hung up trying to verify device activation before it does the actual downloading. I have tried changing usb ports, and having the device on before connecting but keeps hanging up at same place in the process.

This morning I had email from Garmin thanking me for registering my device. Although I had already downloaded a section of map on 12-31 which proves it did all work correctly at one point, it is once again working now. I do not know why I am just now getting this email and do not know if it was connected to my issue. All is good for now and I am slowly learning the tricks of this program. I am declaring all issues on this thread solved. Thank you SUSSAMB and BABJ615 for your help.
