Hi,

I´m a new garmin user and i own a gpsmap 62st. I also bought the "TOPO pro benelux" map and downloaded it directly to my device.
Is it only possible to see this map in basecamp when i plug in my device or can i also upload this map to basecamp itself?

Tnx Tuur
  • You can't 'upload it' to Basecamp. What you can do is copy it on to a USB stick/card and Basecamp should read it off there.

Basecamp will also see the map when the device is connected, first time it will take relatively long...
If you bought the map on DVD it may be possible to install it also on your computer. (was the case for Topo France)

? how copy NT map from zumo 350 to USB stick ?

    Basically same question::
I have Zumo 350LM and think it is crazy MUST be plugged into computer in order to calculate a route (even major city to major city). So idea of copy map to USB stick would help a lot. 350 came with CN North America NT 2014.30 installed.

When I used Windows File Manager nothing shows that looks like a huge map file.

So ? how do I copy map ?

    thanks, Bob

download of map to 350 worked BUT how to UNlock ??

apparently now I need to UNlock City Navigator North America

    ? next step please ?

BTW:: it is interesting why Garmin keeps these things SECRET - not in Zumo or BaseCamp "manuals"
and when I explored Garmin Express (wandering thru menus to learn) - I never would have expected a Reinstall or Change Region button to download from device to computer. They hide these things for a reason?

NB:: I recall reading about a 25 character code for unlocking something - that was supposed to be on an orange piece of paper - I checked box that came with my zumo 350LM and no little orange slip.

No one said you MUST have your Zumo plugged into your PC to calculate a route, but you must if you wish to use the maps on your Zumo and they're not installed on your PC. When you update your maps (or if you've already updated them) you can use Express to install the update to both your Zumo and PC, that way all is well.

This shouldn't be necessary if Express downloaded the map correctly, I've never been asked for an unlock code. What did you do to install the map and what exactly is the error message you're getting?

I ran the download routine (in your link) again - and it worked great.
Now I have detailed roads and POI without plugging my 350 into laptop.
    thanks !!

OK - so system is working now - thanks to you.
So, time to make it better.

I started with Voice = American English-Jill who was OK but some enunciation issues.
So I tried Michelle and was shocked to find Street Names gone.
Switched back to Jill and Street Names returned - I really miss good old fashioned User Manual.

So now I am trying to download Voices for British English, Australian, or Canadian::

?? how can I download these other voices

?? are any of these voices more verbose (I need more voice prompts in strange places I ride to)

?? why doesn't Zumo 350 say "Off Route" or "Recalculating" (I can bang a U-turn immediately on bike - rather than ride 10 miles in Nebraska before Zumo tells me to make a turn to get back on route

    thanks again, Bob
