ANT+ Data Transfers - Why not???

I've wondered this for quite some time, but never dawned on me to ask.....

Why is there no support for basic GPS data transfer (waypoints, track & routes) to and from an "ANT+" enabled GPSr units and Basecamp?
(I'm surprised nobody has created a utility / "bridge" to do this..... ~ Or have they, & I just haven't seen/found it?)

I'd love to go out and purchase an ANT+ stick if I knew I could use it to somehow transfer track & waypoint data between my Montana 650 and Basecamp without needing to tether via USB!

I would think that many others would also like to have this capability! (Is this not feasible with the ANT+ technology?)
  • Sharing a small GPX track or waypoint between two units in the field is one thing....

ANT+ is just too slow for transferring multiple (or larger) data files in a reasonable amount of time.

Bluetooth or WiFi is much better suited for this, and now that I mention it (FALAGAR), Can we (you) PLEASE add Bluetooth and WiFi data transfer to BaseCamp for GPSr that are so equipped (Oregon6xx, Monterra, VIRB Elite)???

Had a notion that was going to be a primary reason. (I have no doubt other wireless technologies are more suitable, but nevertheless ANT+ is used to transfer this type of data "unit to unit" in the field.
Not owning a wi-fi/bluetooth enabled unit (Montana650) I am surprised that wireless connections have not been integrated yet.

On a related note: with 1.3gb of BirdsEye imagery on my microSD, I presently have to wait ~10 minutes for the chip to get "cached" each time first connect the GPSr via USB.
So I can't imagine (without including this BirdsEye and 24ktopo data) that just transferring routes, tracks & waypoints via ANT+ could be any slower!
